New Openings Among Retailer’s May Benefit Economy

With summer concluding, sporting goods titans like Cabelas,
Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bass Pro Shops, and Field and Stream are planning to
expand their reach in the Midwest region this fall with the opening of new
locations within the Cincinnati and Dayton, OH area.
These businesses are spending millions in construction costs
to build new stores to infiltrate a lucrative outdoor gaming industry, and to
generate business from gaming and outdoor enthusiasts. According to the Outdoor Industry Association, sales of outdoor products increased 6.8 percent to $1.18
billion over the last year. Additional research conducted by Los Angeles-based research firm IBISWorld Inc. suggests that the sporting-goods industry will
have an average annual growth over the next five years of 1.9 percent to $47.8
billion by 2019.
Sporting-goods and outdoor stores are widely popular in the Southwest
Ohio region and nationwide.  Commercial
real-estate developers in the Ohio area expect a population growth of over 3
million people by 2015, which will make the I-75 corridor between Cincinnati
and Dayton (where the stores are slated to open) a prime destination for outdoor
enthusiasts to buy gaming and hunting supplies.
Furthermore, the opening of these stores will stimulate job
growth in the Ohio area.  Cabela’s for
example will employ an additional 200 employees in its new sprawling 82,000
square-foot store.  The fall will be a
busy time of the year for sporting goods retailers.  With the holidays around the corner, their
goal is to attract business with the opening of these new stores.  As businesses get ready for the holiday
season they know there are some great ways to get extra working capital to help
their businesses grow.
