For the last 43 years, Small Business Week has been observed during the first week of May. The second Sunday of the month, we celebrate Mother’s Day. On that day, we honor mothers and the role that they play in our lives. At Silver Rock Funding, we especially admire the influence that mothers have on you as a business owner.
The instructions that we heard from our mothers hold value throughout your life. This is especially true for a business owner. Silver Rock Funding has championed helping small business owners over the years. We have connected thousands of business owners with over $7 million. Although the money may have helped, there is nothing comparable to the instructional gems that the moms of entrepreneurs have had on them. Many of the things mom told you, can easily strengthen you as a leader of your company. We listed 3 of them below:
Be nice.
The golden rule: treat others the way you want to be treated. This rule not only works in life, but in business. Making sure that your clients and customers feel welcome and satisfied is the essence of the customer service experience. A happy customer will return. So, if you want a steady income for your business and loads of repeat customer follow the rule your mom always taught you: treat everyone kindly. Be nice.
Sit down.
If you were like most kids, you took every opportunity to run around any chance you get. Sure there were times when you were free to run amuck, like on the playground or at recess. However, when running around the house, often times, mom would be less than happy. So, mom may have commanded you to sit still.
Often times as a business owner, you might over run yourself. You might get caught up in the day-to-day operations of your business and neglect the peaceful times. It is good for your health and business when you take the time to slow down, meditate, and just relax. So, business owners, take heed to your mom’s advice. Sit down.
Be Yourself.
Many times you will hear a mom refer to her child as the apple of her eye. In a mother’s eyes her child is perfect. So for that same reason moms often encourage their kids to be themselves. A mom’s wish is for her children to follow their dreams and passions. At Silver Rock Funding we encourage you to do the same thing, because this ultimately leads to happiness. There is no better advice for a parent to give a future business owner. Entrepreneurs are individuals who stepped out on their instincts. They have followed their guts. So, being yourself and following your dreams was probably the best advice she gave you as a future-business owner.
On this Mother’s Day, we at Silver Rock Funding honor all the mothers. In particular, we want to honor those who influenced America’s business owners. Just remember to follow their simple instructions for business success.
